Level for the last day

From: 2025-03-02 To: 2025-06-13

The last day was a game that ended being binned due to multiple reasons. The game was a 3D third-person walking simulator set in Napoleonic France. The player character is Pierre, a young man who is being drafted into the army and will go to war at the end of the day. The player is able to choose how Pierre will Piere spend the last day. The game is more experienced than the game as it does not have much player agency. Nonetheless, the level made was completed and was quite well received. This level is what I want to showcase.

overlook of the village

overlook of the village from the churches hill

The level is set in a village in the French Alps where the player character lived his whole life. The village is located in the middle of the map, and the player starts on the market square in the centre of said village. Above the village, there is a church overlooking the square from the cliff. In the opposite direction, there are open fields.

Lower part of the village

The player has limited mobility, which helps with making certain areas inaccessible due to the player character not wanting to go into certain things or over certain obstacles. This made invisible walls more plausible from a character's perspective. It is not in character for Pierre to jump off the cliff to get faster from point A to B. This also allowed the player to ingest the narrative while travelling. The environment was supposed to be melancholic for the player when they travel through the world.

Church on the hill

Church that overlooks the village, with POI, Priest

The points of interest were other NPCs. Most of them allowed for at least a conversation, and some of them allowed the player to spend time with them. All NPCs are placed near the environment where they could be found, and where the player might have gone. Like the Priest being located near the church, which overlooks the village.

Game can be found on this google drive.
